As 2023 drew to a close, December was all about looking back and reflecting on the year. Community members were invited to review the images they had created throughout the year and celebrate their happy memories, experiences and journey. Everyone enjoyed this process in different ways, with some members printing their favourite images to hang on their walls, while others created collages or photo books. You can see some of the prints and collages below.

While reflecting on their year, many members reshared their favourite photos and memories from the year gone past. Many of these memories were very personal, showing how photography has connected them with themselves and the world around them in 2023. I have decided to keep these sharings in the private community, but have copied many of the members favourite photos and memories below.

One thing that really shone when looking back for many, was how much the personal images meant to them. There were many photos shared of members family and friends. Again I have kept these in the private group to respect everyone’s privacy. I have however shared some images made of members beloved pets below. This exercises shows that sometimes, the most meaningful images we will ever make are of our loved ones. These are rarely seen or celebrated in the photography world, yet they mean so much to the individuals that created them.

This exercise really hit home to us about why we do photography. It is all about the memories, experiences and beautiful moments that photography brings us. Not only in photographing these moments, but in being able to share our images with those closest to us.
