Wellness Photography Weekends

A weekend of wellness photography in Scotland

The two days were filled with great, immersive, exercises that helped me rediscover my passion for photography. I was also delighted that others on the event discovered new approaches and methods over the weekend. It was heartwarming.

These weekends are all about connection

Connection to self, to nature and to other people

Created with the Photographic Connections philosophy in mind, Kim has designed these weekends to help you experience the therapeutic benefits that practicing photography and spending time in nature can bring. Over the two days Kim will share a number mindful photography exercises with you. You will get the chance to practice these on site, offering you the opportunity to feel a greater love and appreciation for the world around you. These exercises can then be taken home with you and implemented into your own photographic practice. Kim will also bring in other elements to deepen the experience including relaxation techniques and journalling. Moments of solitude with your camera, as well as sharing with the group, will be weaved together to offer a balance between self exploration and human connection.

These weekends are not designed to teach you photography but to give you the chance to take time for yourself, empowering you to find your own creative voice, by using photography as the tool to do so. Both beginner and experienced photography lovers are welcome, along with both cameras and smartphones.

Each day will run between 9am and 5pm, with the option of arriving at 8.30am both mornings for a catch-up and hot drink before we begin. Once the facilitation comes to a close on Sunday, an optional group meal (additional cost) will be offered at a local restaurant for those who wish to connect and chat further, before travelling home.

Each weekend is limited to 6 spaces.

Venue - Marcassie Farm, Scotland

Marcassie is an organic farm situated in the peaceful Scottish countryside. It is surrounded by nature and designed with Scandinavian charm.

It comes with a bright indoor learning space: fully equip with a facilitation room, kitchen and toilets, and with a view of nature from every window.

The outside space is home to beautiful ancient trees, a pond and farmland, offering an array of photographic opportunities.

It also caters for those with mobility difficulties with a ramp and disabled toilet in place, as well as parking at the door.

Lunch and Refreshments

Tasty plant based food will be made by a local chef and provided both days for lunch. Tea, Coffee and a selection of herbal teas will also be on offer for you to enjoy, along with some healthy home bakes.

“From the start, Marcassie Farm proved to be a warm and welcoming environment, with beautiful grounds and trees it has a huge variety of photographic opportunities. Having time in such a calm and peaceful environment to devote to my photography, with the benefits of Kim’s knowledge and experience has been so valuable.”

2024 Weekend Dates

I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend at Marcassie with Kim and the other participants. The weekend was truly immersive and a retreat- allowing us time to look at the landscape around and enjoy the opportunities it gave us to re-connect with our photography and enjoy time outdoors. We were encouraged to be more mindful about how we saw and made images and to reflect on this process also. Kim was an excellent facilitator of a group who began as strangers but quickly made connections and felt secure enough to share our photographs and thoughts. I would definitely recommend the weekend.
